“The Uttarakhand region in India experienced widespread and catastrophic flooding in June 2013 – a multiple day cloudburst caused landslides with thousands of people killed or displaced. With wide loss of life and property the Indian Authorities invited Rescue Global to deploy in September 2013 to conduct reconnaissance, mapping, analysis and liaison work. Kedarnath village at 12,000ft was one of the worst hit areas, only accessible by helicopter". These images show the continued effort to clean up the village and remove remaining bodies from the debris. The head priests in the temple, which is one of the holiest in India, continue to pray and make offerings to their God Shiva.
